And in the 20th century, the Polish economist Oskar Lange embraced both Marxism and neoclassical economics, maintaining that one needed Marx to understand the evolution and development of capitalism (and its subsequent replacement by socialism), while neoclassical economics was required for the rational administration of socialist economies.
