Are you confusing "educated" with "intelligent," "critical" or even "honest"? Because there are plenty of "educated" people in imperialist countries who deny all manner of mass murder and criminality, to the degree they're even aware of it. Actually, those who deny the Jewish holocaust in Europe are far more marginal and extreme than those who deny genocide in Vietnam or East Timor.
