Although it doesn't deal with the evidently crucial bathing wear question, there is a fairly interesting book on the internal religious debates around gender in Iran by Ziba Mir-Hosseini, Islam and Gender: The Religious Debate in Contemporary Iran. It tends to focus on marriage issues and a few other things that fall under religious jurisdiction. It includes a set of conversations that she had with conservative, neo-traditional, and modern perspectives (her terms) It also is a little dated because it was written before A. (I'm not sure the impact that he has had on these debates, but I suspect it probably isn't radical) Here is the link http://www.amazon.com/Islam-Gender-Ziba-Mir-Hosseini/dp/0691010048/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1246394298&sr=8-1
She also codirected a quite good documentary called Divorce, Iranian Style.
