What I'm drawing into question is the notion that private industry is
necessary for technological innovation. If the more or less socialist
technology production coordinated by government had not happened, none
of the private semiconductor companies would have had the infrastructure
and core knowledge to develop any products. My point is that the
reverse is not true. (The private companies are the social parasites
here; government funded research and design is the fundamental driver.)
