WHO:
Phil Hotsenpiller, an expert on interpreting biblical end times prophecy and a teaching pastor at the Southern California megachurch, Yorba Linda Friends Church.
WHAT:
Hotsenpiller can speak to the fundamentals of biblical end times prophecy as foretold in Scripture and current events playing out around the world, which some say may point toward the fulfillment of this prediction. He has exhaustively studied the Bible and the world’s end through its portrayal in art, literature and movies and is well-versed on Apocalyptic timeline events from the Middle Ages through Modern Day. Hotsenpiller can also discuss why society is fixated on the end times and terminology frequently associated with the world’s end.

.....
The pious Mr. Hotsenpiller isn't alone in hitching his apocalypse wagon to the most conspicuously falling star.
I've noticed that a fair number of peak oilers (at Internet meeting places such as The Oil Drum), deprived for the moment of news items about soaring gas prices, have started talking about "peak debt".
Interestingly, this "peak debt" is often described in much the same resource-depletion-equals-return-to-the-19th-century terms which shape the secular prophecies of Kunstler and friends.
Perhaps an example of how the absence of at least basic Marx in your thinking leads, like the sleep of reason, to all sorts of scary monsters and super freaks.
