>From where I'm standing, it looks like markets are doing a thorough job of
destroying themselves. A more productive question is, what do we human
beings, as a species, replace the cannibalistic madness of market
fundamentalism with?
This is why I constantly rant about my hobby-horse, the developmental state. I'm all for a classless society, free from the ravages of capital, but in the short run, we're going to need a vastly expanded state sector, just to prevent things from getting worse. If that's the case, then we need to democratize, plebianize and ecologize the state.
