The reason I said we've been doing this for ages with email -- and why it's not a radical concept to most users-to-be -- is that we can check our email anywhere and we expect the info to be there. There's no worry that you won't be able to connect to your email from your neighbor's house or from another country.
Part of what I'm working on at my day job is media convergence, specifically in the online music space. (I'm pretty sure I die a little inside every time I use that phrase.) The potential to be able to access all your music across digital platforms (mobile, set top, and internet) has so many awesome possibilities. I'm glad to work for a company that puts me on the cutting edge of this transformation!
I'm writing about this quite a bit over at my new, presently undesigned blog jtramsay.com. Swing by now and then and you'll find me arguing for editorial space in the new music economy. Even with everything that's happening to the music and publishing industries, I think there's a future in curating cultural fragmentation.
Remember that new media douchebag video I recommended? Yeah, I feel that. -- jt. ramsay music crusader www.jtramsay.com
