Ahem. There is a time to get out of one's car, and a time not to.
One of my colleagues years ago had worked as a ranger in Yellowstone. One day he drove over the top of a long rise, and there at the bottom, beyond anything he could do, a woman had gotten out of her car with her child and was taking the child's picture between two grizzly pups. What she did not see was Mama Bear coming down at her back like a fast freight. She took the photograph, picked up her child, got into the car and drove away, never to know how few seconds separated her from death.
