It wasn't me who equated prostitutes and carpenters. I was making a reductio ad absurdum.
Look, strippers are pretty low in the societal pecking order. Prostitutes, however, are viewed by most people, in all sociological categories, as the lowest of the low, the most degrading profession there is, the thing you absolutely do not want your daughter to do. This is why "whore" is an insult, whereas "carpenter" is not. It's lower than bank robber; probably somewhere around crack dealer; and far preferable to panhandler. OF COURSE MOST STRIPPERS ARE GOING TO INSIST THAT THEY ARE NOT PROSTITUTES, ALMOST THE MOST HUMILIATING PROFESSION, IN SOCIETY'S VIEW, THERE IS. HAVE YOU PEOPLE LOST YOUR MINDS?
