Which is precisely why one need not read newspapers, or at least do more than glance at them. There are always others who read all over the place anf filter out the useful information. Doug is one of those himself! Information needed _immediately_ for either political or social purposes usually announces itself fairly loudly through a number of channels, reaching those who neither read papers carefully or watch TV news. Then one can check the paper or some other source. But that need is rare. There is no loss in a delay of several weeks t a year or two in receiving much of the news in journals, monthly magazines, or books.
