Yeah. That's the keeping the faith part it seems. Davis has been saying things like this since his first book Prisoners of the American Dream. There he said it was the black working-class that was key to radical change in the U.S. In the '90s he wrote a little book called Magical Urbanism where he argued that big cities like Los Angeles were being positively transformed by the demographic shift to majority Latino population.
Claims like that come at the end though, when he's wrapping up, just like the quote above comes at the end of the interview. If he was Elmer Gantry, this would be the part where they start passing the plate.
