I am lucky enough to never have to touch Word/Excel/PowerPoint etc (for my work). Nonetheless, once in a while some cruel person sends me a Word document and in those instances I use my copy of iWork Pages ($79, compare to MS Office) which does its job. I am wondering, if you have access to a Mac, if iWork Numbers does the thing you are looking for?
