it has nothing do to with umbrellas nor hasidim, per se
jewish law (halacha) forbids carrying any article between a public space and
a private domain on the sabbath
obviously, this does not include clothes which are worn (the world might be
more interesting if observant jews were forced to go around naked on the
sabbath)
but since umbrellas are not worn, but carried, they are forbidden
