Well, if it is critiques of Hayek on the socialist calculation debate your interested in the following should be of interest:

First of all there was the Polish Marxist economist Oscar Lange, who attempted to answer Hayek from the standpoint of market socialism. For example, see: *On the Economic Theory of Socialism*.

Then there are some more recent writers like Paul Cockshott and Allin Cottrell who defend the possibility of a viable planned socialist economy, in which computer networks would play central role for the gathering and processong of the necessary information.

Paul Cockshott, "Information and Economics: A Critique of Hayek." http://www.reality.gn.apc.org/econ/hayek.htm _________, "Calculation, Complexity and Planning: The Socialist Calculation Debate Once Again." http://ricardo.ecn.wfu.edu/~cottrell/socialism_book/calculation_debat...

Also, I had a post on David Laibman on planning as well. See: http://mailman.lbo-talk.org/2007/2007-April/007046.html

Can anyone direct me to a good single volume, or at least relatively short and accessible, socialist (state or anarchist) response to or critique of Hayek?

thanks, josh ___________________________________
