Plenty of weird, arty, non-blowing up things get made, even if they're not on this list. And Hitchcock loved studio dollars and was not hostile to special effects as he had them at the time. I think Hitch would definitely have got things made now... and he probably would have occasionally blown stuff up. At least somewhere along the terror/horror continuum of threatening the audience with things blowing up.
