This is just so wrong I'm tempted not to bother. But instead I'll throw your analysis back at you - you're assuming I think there's some unitary culture. There isn't. It's tremendously varied. I was talking about the big-budget crap that emerges from Hollywood. I could say similar things about mainstream TV. Or the crap you hear on commercial radio. But there's a lot of other stuff that's really great. I just wish it got more resources and attention.
