[WS:] Perhaps the most interesting aspect of this story is that this ban is enacted sepite popular opinion that strongly supports death penalty.

On that note, here in DC, the local bigots try to use democracy to defeat a measure legalizing same sex marriages. Their attempt to put this issue on the ballot was denied on the civil rights grounds, so now they sue to be able to put on the ballot, which will almost certainly result in a ban..

This is yet another evidence that democracy as it is practiced today really sucks. Big time. Twenty or so years of living in Amerika convinced me that deTocqueville was right, democracy = tyranny of the majority & mob rule. Lenin was also right, one needs a vanguard party - not a mob rule - to maintain social justice for all.
