Basically, no. Why? Because the general outcomes are like this:
1. They are believed, the parent goes to jail, they go to foster homes or they get a lot poorer.
2. They are not believed. I mean Freud had to make up a whole theory to account for what seemed to him the incredible amount of molestation reported by his patients.....in order to disbelieve it.
3. They are blamed for telling or provoking the molester.
You see a good choice here?
When I said it was common, I was basing this on the very large proportion of people I know who have described such incidents to me. None of these people ever brought charges.
