Until someone gives me strong evidence to the contrary I shall assume that the people at the Nation feel that there is no other rute to a decent future except through the Democratic Partry. Millions of quite decent and intelligent and well-informed people think that. And I think you and Dug ought to be the ones to feel silly about this thread. All the bellyaching in the world abut the Nation will not change a fucking thing.
So I repeat, you are cxomplaining about the rain because it wets you.
I think lbo-talk posters waste their time on this sort of trivia because they really don't know WITBD, won' admit it even to themselves, and are trying to avoid facing what they know. It's too terrible.
What in a year or a decade when nothing we do make a difference ought we to be doing? A radical is someone who focuses above all on WITBD. A person whining from the sidelines is still merely a liberal.
I really don't know myself, but it is still the only topic that really interests me. I wish more people were wrestling with it instead of telling themselves fairy tales about progress and morality.
