The trouble is, a capitalist society simply doesn't work best when everyone has enough. It works best when some or most people don't have enough.

So maintaining an unequal society is a quite reasonable conservative strategy.

You can be a conservative socialist. But that would involve radical change. Its a hard thing for conservatives to accept. I speak as a conservative socialist myself.
