I guess, when I use left, I'm strictly speaking about people who are Marxists of some sort. This notion of a left that includes Dailykos types, I don't get. It's only been embraced in the last 8 years or so, I swear. I guess the assinine cons changed the terms of the debate. Lumping everyone into "the left" the neoliberals, pwogs, liberals, democrats now think they are the left. It makes me want to vomit on their shoes.
But writing a book for these people? They will never get what Michaels is saying. They don't give two shits. Never will. They are, in fact, looking for ways to actively ignore and avoid his analysis, the worst among them are most interested in undermining and eradicating it. So, to me, it is: why fucking bother? Save your breath to cool your porridge, buddy, and quit talking to me as if I'm a stupid ass. That's the reaction I had to his book. it seemed to make out *everyone* to be in a left that uniformly didn't get it.
Since I remember making this same analysis and reading others make in 1994, it was even more irritating.
