I think part of the reason why he's 'struck a nerve' is because the
conversations that Walter Benn Michaels seems to imagine are going on
don't really match up with the conversations that many of us are involved
in both as activists and as participants in universities.  I still haven't
gotten a response to who is the voice of the broad they that he is
opposing.  By the way, Alan's responses, especially the latest ones have
