Nope, noone did. But it's remarkable how close Gibson got to naming the BRICs before the thing actually existed.
I should also mention the global periphery also plays a surprisingly prominent role in "Neuromancer" -- the Caribbean, Africa, elements of the African diaspora, etc.
Or maybe South Asia really is there, and I didn't read the signs properly. Will have to recheck the text...
