In my article for _Milton Studies_ in ancient names I went by the rule
cited here (Odysseus' rahter than Odysseus's) but if I remember
correctly the editor changed them to the modern practice. My memory is
abit vague on this and it doesn't seem worthwhile to read a 10,000 word
essay to find one or two possessives!
