``could you at least fill me in on good things obama has done?'' shag

To me, unalloyed goods... Jenny Brown

I wrote a list also, but didn't send it. Don't ask me why CB is so contrary this week. Here are some of mine:

Dismissal of various executive orders related to military prisons, prisoners, status of prisoners and legal rights of prisoners. Getting rid of many of these goes along way toward restoration of the separation of powers and limitations on the executive.

The creation of a distance and cool down of relations with Israel.

The cool down of anti-Iranian war talk and agreement to open talks with Iranian officials without absurd pre-conditions.

The reversal of CIA support for the rigthwing opposition to the Venezuelan and Bolivian governments. The discontinuance of threatening official talk directed at Hugo Chavez and Evo Morales.

The boycott of the Honduran junta. The support for the Latin American states organization including Cuba, that denounced the exile of an elected president and take over by the military. Joining the diplomatic boycott.

Closing down the Eastern European missile defence system. Gates' talk of other systems in place, I think is just noise or mostly so.

Obama's apparent popularity in the rest of the world, in Europe in particular.

The coolness and sauve style, his ease with the press, his generally good natured manner. Those are all an intense relief from being ruled by the most hated and mean-spirited men in the world, from the most hated country in the world.

The main source of my complaints comes from the obvious. Obama has his good nature and bad nature; the old image of an angel on one shoulder and the devil on the other. I think his triangulation moves are coming from a compromise with the devils on the right. Stop that shit. Start listening to the angels of your better nature.

And then last, Obama is a black president, and that is a good thing in itself because of the history of this country. And remember too, there is a nice picture of a handsome black guy in every federal agency office in the country.

I personally do not have to see George W. Bush's face on tv. I am waiting until it is safe to buy a tv to replace the one threw out.

I will argue it is Obama's African descent that pisses off the whitewing party most. He is smarter, talks better, thinks better, looks better, and acts better than they do. All these subjective judgments and what they add to the public mind, really pisses the whitewing off. All these good traits go straight to an objective denial of their white supremacy or traditional american values.
