punishments in our legal system are not meant only for the purpose of
putting behind bar or correcting the offender. It is above all meant to be
a deterrent aginst possible future offenders. Here it is not merely a
question of settlement between the two parties , that would enable the
issue to be closed. The Public prosecutor is free to proceed in public
interest..Polonski's offense is clear. He jumped the bail committing
another offense. Many a celebrities have been punished before ..he should
not be an exception. He must own up and beg pardon publicly for everyone. A
creative Artist ,if he upholds the State as a civilisational necessity,
should be responsible to the society in which he lives. His responsibility
more serious than a common offender.
