Come to think of it, German unification and its effects as described by Engels would have been hugely progressive. As Yugoslavs are backward peoples destined to be snuffed out by the inexorable wave of progress brought by the superior Germans, there would have been no Yugolavs, hence no Yugoslavia, and hence no bloody breakup of Yugoslavia. The place would be called Sudreich or something like that. More importantly, there would be no Slavoj Zizek or other people with funny names and no Laibach. I think we can all get behind that.
