Yes. The awfulness of market fundamentalism invariably spawns equally awful local/petro/ethno/wacko-fundamentalisms. It's true not just at the top tiers of information capitalism, but everywhere else in the world-system, too.

This is one of the reasons I insist so strongly on the utopian vocation of videogame culture, incidentally. Its one of the few places where progressive critiques of neoliberalism and its mercenary fundamentalisms are being created and distributed to tens of millions of people, all across the planet.
