[lbo-talk] The end of Stalinism was a good thing (was Thatcherism)

Incidentally, the word "Stalinizm" in the former Soviet Union and Eastern Europe themselves, that is, among the people who have actual historical experience, means two things.

1. The word is mainly used to refer to a style of architecture.

2. It is occasionally used to refer to the style of governance employed by Stalin himself.

Calling the USSR during Brezhnev "Stalinist" would be rightfully regarded as bonkers, because the differences in style of governance were sort of enormous, unless you think that mass repressions are a mere epiphenomenon.
