Yeah, could be—I’d learned it was Frick, some time back, but I see attributions for both (via Google), with Gould in the majority. But I can’t find a pointer to original sourcing for either. Maybe the quote is apocryphal. It would fit either SOB, as neither seemed to care much for bourgeois pieties about their class’s supposed civilizing mission.

Frick’s deathbed response to pious fraud Andrew Carnegie, who claimed to want to see estranged colleague Frick one last time, has survived, in fact or legend: “Tell Carnegie I’ll meet him in Hell, which is where we’re both going.” Or words to that effect. At least, part of the quote was made the title of a book, so, you know, it must be credible! ;)
