I'm trying to find out the history of the phrase: paralysis of analysis.
Martin Luther King Jr made it famous. _He_ got it from Pious (also spelled
Pius) Barber who, I gather, was part of King's exploration of
Marxist/Socialist thought. Apparently, Barber was a socialist with whom
King interned during his years in seminary. (referenced in _A Genetic
History of Baptist Thought_ by William H. Brackney.)
Could you pass this query around your networks to see if anyone has any
ideas? I'm mostly just curious, but I'm guessing there's an interesting
history there and I'd like to know more. I'm especially interested in the
context within which Barber used it. What did he mean by the paralysis of
analysis? If anyone has ideas on where to start, I'd be grateful.
thanks!
