Bush's stupidity, the Jewish Lobby, Schwarzenegger's culpibility -- they are all instances of the same fundamental error in so much left thinking.

IT IS WRONG TO JUMP ON SCAPEGOATS, WHEHTER OR NOT THEY ARE ALSO GUILTY.

We can't will a movement into existence. So anything we do can well prove fruitless. In fact that is the probable outcome. But the way "exceptions" to capitalist hegemony suddenly spring up is because people have kept seriously going through the motiions of building a movement -- and all of a sudden behind their backs the terrain has changed and their efforts bear fruit. There is absolutely no way to predict this. Expl;osions ALWAYS come as a complete surprise even to those who have created them. Lenin did not expect the revolution in his lifetime. Rosa Parks had not the slightest idea in the world that she was about to change the world.

But those (mostly fruitless until the surprise) attempts to build must be built against systemic features which policy at a given time incarnates. The War in Afghanistan as U.S. policy incarnates capitalism as a system. The War in Afghanistan as Bush stupidity or Obama cowardice or peficy doesn't incarnate a fucking thing.

Schwarzenegger did not mess up California. He couldn't have except as an expresdsion of various forces that his policies came to implement. Focus on those policies. Forget the fucking personalitiies.
