Images documenting more than half a century of NASA history have been posted on photo-sharing website Flickr.
Almost 200 pictures have been uploaded on the site. And just as if they were your best friend's vacation photos posted on the site, you can add tags or keywords to the images to identify objects and people.
So, for the aerospace buffs out there, you have the chance to show off a bit and add what you know, as well as peruse some amazing pictures. For those living in Southern California, there is some local flavor because many of the events captured in the photos take place right here.
In all, there are three sets of pictures:
"Launch and Takeoff" features 104 shots of iconic spacecraft and aircraft taking flight.
"Building NASA" is made up of 44 photos of the construction of NASA facilities.
"NASA Center Namesakes" highlights 32 photos of the leaders that NASA's 10 main centers are named after.
The New Media Innovation Team at NASA's Ames Research Center at Moffett Field, near Sunnyvale, Calif., worked with NASA photography and history experts to put the photo sets together.
And according to NASA, this is only the start of what's to come. It has plans on creating and releasing more photo sets that highlight different elements, themes and achievements of the nation's space program.
