Apparently, Sarkozy passed an electoral reform that creates new parliamentary districts to represent overseas French voters. North America will constitute one district. It looks like Sarkozy's finance minister, Christine Lagarde, who used to head the French office of an American corporate law firm - and has politics to match - will run for the seat in 2012. She'll be a shoo-in: in the last presidential election (with no special overseas districts), French voters in North America chose Sarkozy over Segolene Royal 16,569 to 10,232.
