Re: "I'm not sure what elite means when we're talking about movie theaters.

This is standard procedure. Inside Job is now showing all over the country:"

[WS:] By "elite" I mean theaters catering to narrow, usually more educated, audiences, such as Angelika Film Center in NYC. As to "all over the country" - I do not want to split hair but what I see is a very select list of theaters. I see no DC theater showing it, and only one MD theater - Bethesda, which is a quintessential yuppieville.

The reason I asked about this documentary is that I really wanted to see it but the Google gadget that shows what is playing in local theaters (within a certain radius) shows nothing but the most commercial Hollywood trash of the wham-bam-kaboom variety in 3D.

And while we are at that - I am by no means a conspiracy theory buff, but I do believe that the US of A is one of the most propagandized nations on the face of this planet - second perhaps to North Korea, Burma, Iran and kindred "closed societies." The way it is done in the US is not by outright censorship of "undesirable" content but by letting it to "trickle down" and then drown it in the deluge of commercial trash and right wing blabber - to assure that this content has negligible impact while preserving the illusion of "freedom of expression" "open society" and "democracy."
