A book to put on the same shelf (after you read it) is "Ain't My America: The 
Long, Noble History of Antiwar Conservatism and Middle-American 
Anti-Imperialism" (2008) by Bill Kauffman.  It's part of the "American Empire 
Project," published by Metropolitan Books and including contributions by 
Chomsky, Zinn, and Chalmers Johnson - some two dozen books in all. --CGE
