I don't want this to get too cyclical, but I think a lot of people -- Tea Partiers included -- would say that if it was spent wisely and effectively, there'd be less to complain about. The issue comes up initially because of the effectiveness, not the amount. The amount becomes a secondary complaint, and yet: if the tax system was more fair, most people would pay less tax not more. The problem with the "from whom" part is that _it is presumed_ to be fair, when in fact it it's wildly unfair and getting worse by the day.
