Yes, quite some time ago, provincial and politically illiterate U.S. "leftists" (of a Naderist stripe, mostly) believed they coined the term "corporatism" to describe a big capital-dominated polity -- having no clue that the term had a long-existing and wholly other meaning on the European continent. Although of course woolly-minded American populists would find state-brokered capital-labor "peak bargaining" to be deeply suspect, too...
