The EQ is what, a few hours old. I would expect the casualty count to go up though probably not as fast as Haiti.

Advanced societies have plenty of decrepit infrastructure that can also crumble if shaken hard enough at just the right points. SOME advanced societies do different things to plan for emergencies, but there would also be big class divisions....
