WHAT: Scientists today moved back the hands of the Doomsday Clock, a metaphorical timepiece created in 1947 to measure the proximity to global disaster. The minute hand of the clock, which was last moved in 2007, moves closer to or away from midnight, which represents total catastrophe, dependent upon events taking place. End times expert, Phil Hotsenpiller, can discuss the significance of this clock and its relation to the “last days” and apocalypse as described in the Bible.

WHO: Phil Hotsenpiller is a teaching pastor at the Southern California megachurch, Yorba Linda Friends Church. He is a resource on eschatology, the study of the end of the world, and is a theological expert on biblical end times prophecy.

WHEN: By appointment

WHERE: In studio or via phone

DETAILS: Hotsenpiller hosts an annual Labor Day weekend prophecy conference at his church. Educating audiences with biblical truth, he hopes to eliminate panic and fear that many people have about the end of the world. At the conference, Hotsenpiller leads attendees in the study of current events and their relation to the “last days” as described in the Bible.

Passionate about using creative, relevant methods to teach biblical end times’ prophecy, Hotsenpiller uses his theological knowledge to write the “Armageddon Now” graphic novels, an original, biblically- inspired series illustrated by acclaimed comic book artist Rob Liefeld. The opening page of the first installment in the series, “Armageddon Now: World War 3,” depicts the “prophetic clock” beginning to tick.

In advance of the November 2009 release of the film “The Road,” Hotsenpiller created an in-depth study guide on the overarching themes of life, death, good and evil present in the film. He also led numerous screenings of and discussions about “The Road” for the faith community. He has done numerous interviews on the end times and the apocalypse with media outlets such as CNN, USA Today and ABCNews.com.

INTERVIEW CONTACT: To request an interview with Hotsenpiller, or for information on the "Armageddon Now" graphic novel series, please contact Jodi Phillip at 469.438.3729 or via e-mail at jodi at alarryross.com.
