I wouldn't be so sure. The reverse was the case in 1960 -- and Nixon did refrain from causng a crisis by challenging the returns in Illinois and Texas, in both of which a careful recount might well have overturned the original results.
The Party contains more righist anarchists today than in 1960, but I doubt they could control it in a real crisis.
