The truth is that in US law torture (implicitly prohibited by the Eighth Amendment) was explicitly outlawed by international treaty (including the inadmissibility of any exceptions whatsoever) and by required domestic legislation drawn up to implement the treaty, not by Obama.
When Obama lies by saying that it was *he* who prohibited torture he is simultaneously signing on to the far greater lie that the torture perpetrated by the Bushits was legal. By so granting them impunity he not only violates his Oath of Office "to take care that the laws be faithfully enforced" but he also makes himself equally complicit, as accomplice after the fact, in their high crimes and misdemeanors.
Impeachment is in order.
