I don't see how one could either support or retute this. My own feeling is tha tusuallygoofing off is simply a way to survive, and reflects seeing social relatons as just part of what is.

At one point in the '60s there was an element in the student movement that came, I think, from glimpsing the possiblity of freedom (unity of act and motive). Then it was either co opted or turned into rage at the sheer power they faced, but it was there for a while.

I think something like that will have to be the core of any actual revolution or build up to revolution. (It is important to see the vast difference between mere liberty (freedom from outside coercion) and freedom as I've defined it here. Liberty for a large portion of the population is achievable undr capitalism, but not freedom.
