It was perhaps a mistake on the part of Charles Brown to send the original post. In its orgiinal context the post was merely informative rather than a provocation as it seems to have been taken on Pen-L and this list. (I might mention that even in private communications Yoshie has never expressed "hatred" for anyone.) Commentary on the Iranian document itself, unfiltered throguy personal attitudes towards Yoshie, would be of interest.

At a high level of abstraction, not based on any concrete knowledge of events in Iran, there would seem to be three possiblities:

1. Continuation of the present regime

2. Civil War, the outcomes of which are rather uncertain

3. The kind of process (also uncertain but less bloody) outlined in the statement

In any case, I too have never understood why differences on Iran have given rise to such bitterness of personla feeling.
