Kiss my ass. I am fully aware of the history. Who the fuck cares. We did a lot of theorizing back in 60s on the US military and the history of war, back into the Indian Wars, The Mexican-American War, then more Indian Wars post Civil War, then of course the Spanish Amreican Wars through the Spanish colonial holdings and on and on.
``Chuck misreads history.'' Nonsense. Part of the issue in Afganistan is physical and cultural. Living in the mountains at altitude, which I've only done for vacation and fun, changes your entire mind set. There is a reason nobody has `conquered' Afghanistan, and significant reason is its mountains and its mountain culture. The nature of the terrain makes it almost impossible. Large armies can't move, smaller units are vulnerable.
If you want to write history, why not skip the vitrol and just write the history?
