This capitalist accounting mentality is supposed to create...music?
Artists must eat. Beyond that, the sole motive for true creation is the work of art itself. The true reward for the artist is the appreciation of her audience.
This "Prince" character (whoever he is) certainly gets a much bigger income from a week of commercial royalties than Mahler received for a lifetime of composing some of the greatest music that can be heard.
Artistic creators need to get, as a right, the money needed to create without constraint; and their creations must be gratuitously available to everyone who wants to hear, see, or perform them. That's what The Soul of Man Under Socialism is all about. That's the ABC of communism.
