Fredy Perlman is very good on this. I can't quote exactly, but he begins precisely by noting the _different questions_ asked by Marx & by economists. Marx, he says, asked how is living human activity disributed under given historical conditions. Perlman suggests that this is a question about human cultue, not about prices. But Marxists really should read Perlman; his arguments are bracing.
