Actually, I just looked into this and you're quite right... good call.
But I think that the logic behind it is still valid.
A Hindu considers the cow sacred and could, conceivibly, make the metaphor:
"Your wife is divine like a cow"
Which we would find offensive - or even paradoxical. We find the cow to be a lesser creature; stupid, lazy and docile.
Looking up this slip by M. Foucault I see a typical knee-jerk reaction to post-modernism. Critics find one weak point, one contested fact and hold it up as proof that - to put it in so many cultural terms - the devil was wrong!
