I agree. Last summer in Venice I visited his grave & said a brief prayer for the repose of his soul. I knew that would upset him. I walked along the Zattere, where he regularly strolled in his last years, and thought about his connections with the Serenissima. Then last night I got out the edition of The Waste Land with Pound's annotations for my grandson - for whom it seemed as archaic a mode of cultural production as cave painting...
