It's true they're talking about world history. But in this sense, the
switch is if anything less sensible. We're talking about revolutions
after 1750, which Jefferson certainly had more influence on (both in
the US and in France) than Calvin and Aquinas combined.

CB; Actually, they are talking about Euro-American regional history -
the history of the Europeans who nicknamed themselves "White". Here
"World" is sort of like the "World" in World War One.
